PURPOSE: To soften an ununiform stress distribution and to reduce generation of disconnection, by performing the twist-working in the intermediate stage of cold wire-drawing to the final wire diameter, in case of wire-drawing a metallic material.
CONSTITUTION: Twist-working is performed to a wire rod to be worked, in the intermediate stage of cold wire-drawing to the final wire diameter, and it is desirable that a twisting pitch of the twist-working is 5W100D when the wire diameter in the intermediate stage is denoted as D. In case when a metallic material is copper or a copper alloy, cold wire drawing whose face reducing rate is ≥80% is performed before and after the twist-working, respectively. In this way, the productivity is improved, and disconnection of the metallic material in case of wire-drawing is reduced remarkably.
