Abstract:
To prevent that machining becomes unstable due to fluctuation in a stray capacitance.SOLUTION: A wire electric discharge machine 10 performs electric discharge machining for a machining object 14 with electric discharge caused by applying a voltage to an electrode gap 16 which is formed between a wire electrode 12 and the machining object 14. The wire electric discharge machine 10 comprises: a roll 30 on which a long metal film 28, which has a potential same as that of the machining object 14, is wound; a drive mechanism 32 which draws the metal film 28, which is wound on the roll 30, from the roll 30 and re-winds the drawn metal film 28 on the roll 30; a power supply unit 18 which applies a voltage to the electrode gap 16; a power source control part 20 which so controls the power supply unit 18 as to apply a prescribed voltage only for a prescribed time; and a drive control part 34 which so controls the drive mechanism 32 as to change a drawing quantity of the metal film 28 from the roll 30 according to a shape and a size of the machining object 14 so that a peak voltage of the electrode gap 16 becomes a predetermined reference voltage within the prescribed time.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
