To provide a wire electric discharge machining apparatus improved in user convenience, and also improved in machining accuracy.
The wire electric discharge machine for removing a core (a part to be hollowed) from a workpiece, is provided with: a pressing means for pressing the core from one direction after the electric discharge machining (for example, by injecting a liquid); and a checking means for checking whether the core has been removed from the workpiece (for example, by using a probe) after the electric discharge machining. When a coreless electric discharge machining is selected from a shape of a part to be hollowed and a position of an initial hole, to press the core by the pressing means is inhibited, and when a divided electric discharge machining is selected, pressing by the pressing means and check by the checking means are carried out every time each of a plurality of cores is generated.
