Abstract:

PURPOSE: To lead smoothly and quickly a wire into a crooked pipe or a fine pipeline as well by expanding and contracting axial expandable and contractable connecting members which connect the 1st nodal part and the 2nd nodal part while bringing alternately both parts into press contact with the inside surface of the pipeline and freeing said parts therefrom by a temp. change.

CONSTITUTION: This guiding device consists of the 1st nodal part 3 which is freely press- contactable with and separable from the inside surface of the pipeline 2 by expanding and contacting in the diameteral directions A, B, the 2nd nodal part 4 which is press-contactable with and separable from the inside surface 2a of the pipeline by expanding and contracting in the diameteral direction E alternately with the part 3, a shape memory alloy of which the axial center length over the entire pare expands or contracts with a temp. change and the coil-shaped axial expandable and contractable connecting members 5, 16 connecting the 1st nodal part 3 and the 2nd nodal part 6. The device is so constituted as to guide the wire 1 into the pipeline 2. Heating members 6 are wound independently onto the parts 3, 4, 5 to heat said parts. The wire can be advanced by each size Q in one cycle by heating alternately the members 3, 4, 5 with such constitution. Since the member 5 is coiled, the member travels by itself even in the crooked pipeline 2 and the wire 1 can be thus led into the pipeline. The construction is simple and the device is adaptable to a small-diameter pipe as well.
