PURPOSE: To provide greater pulling resistance by forming a dull penetrating portion, a wedging portion consisting of a plurality of taper faces of arcuate cross section, and a transitional portion leading therefrom, from a point head toward a shank.
CONSTITUTION: A wire nail 10 comprises a shank 12, a head 14, and a point head 16, the shank 12 being selectively covered, etched, grooved, etc., as before. The point head 16 has a dull penetrating portion 18 at its tip end, and a wedging portion 20 consisting of plural, preferably four, taper faces 30, 50 of arcuate cross section and a transitional portion 22 are formed from the penetrating portion 18 toward the shank 12, the taper angle of the wedging portion 20 preferably 12.5°, and the taper angle of the transitional portion 22 preferably about 10°. Cutting ribs 24 are projected from the penetrating portion 18. Thus, the wire nail can exhibit greater pulling resistance than wire nails of the prior art.
