PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wire protection device capable of protecting a wire by instantaneously cutting off an electrification path in the case where an on-vehicle power source is reversely connected to a load.SOLUTION: A wire protection device 1 comprises a gunpowder type cutoff switch 11 provided in the middle of a wire 10 connecting an on-vehicle power source 2 that is connected at a reference potential, and a load 3. The gunpowder type cutoff switch 11 includes: a conducting part 11a which is provided in the middle of the wire 10 and in which a current between the on-vehicle power source 2 and the load 3 passes; a cutting blade 11a for cutting the conducting part 11a; a drive part 11d for propelling the cutting blade 11c in such a direction that the conducting part 11a is cut, by explosion power of gunpowder; and a first terminal and a second terminal where a current for driving the drive part 11d is inputted and outputted. The wire protection device 1 also comprises: a lead wire 10 of which one end is connected to the wire 10 and the other end is connected to the first terminal; and a diode 12 of which the anode is connected at the reference potential and the cathode is connected to the second terminal.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
