PURPOSE: To provide a wire rod breaking detecting device in which the breaking of a wire rod is automatically detected without requiring an exclusive worker for monitoring the breaking of the fed wire rod, and the related machine can be stopped as occasion demands.
CONSTITUTION: This device has inlet and outlet guide plates 10, 16 having a plurality of holes 10a, 16a for guiding a fed wire rod 100; and a first detecting part 12A and a second detecting part 12B arranged between the inlet guide plate 10 and the outlet guide plate 16. A wire rod breaking is detected by the vertical movements of guide chips 18A, 18B provided on the first detecting part 12A and the second detecting part 12B, the guide chips having holes 22A, 22B for passing the wire rod 100 guided by the inlet guide plate 12A and the outlet guide plate 12B.
