PURPOSE: To feed a wire rod efficiently and successively in a short period by a method wherein wire rod feeders composed of a first and a second section respectively are made to operate in a shuttle motion in two directions opposite to each other.
CONSTITUTION: When a wire rod feeder 15 moves in a direction of d, a wire rod feeder 16 moves in an opposite direction of e. When the movement of the wire rod feeder 15 in a direction of d is completed, a wire rod 1 is fed to a following process and one cycle of a wire rod feeding operation terminates. When the feeder 15 finishes feeding the wire rod 1, a wire rod holder 6 inside the feeder 16 holds the wire rod 1. After the wire rod holder 6 inside the feeder 16 holds the wire rod 1, the holder 5 holding the wire rod 1 inside the feeder 15 releases the wire rod 1 by releasing the pressurized air inside a cylinder section 9 and prepares for the following cycle. By these processes, the wire rod 1 can be fed efficiently and successively in a short period.
