To provide a wire rope appropriate for a machine-room-less elevator of which maintenance is easy as it is free from inner severance of a core wherein a fatigue life can be enhanced by reducing peak breakage, valley breakage and breakage in a contacting core face by appropriately restricting movement of side strands and element wires and by reducing elongation.

The rope includes the core, the plurality of side strands arranged around its outer circumference and twisted together and a resin spacer arranged between the side strands. The core 1 consists of a resin continuum and the resin spacer 3 has a contour corresponding to outer layer strands of the side strands 2 and is intruded between the outer layer strands.
