To provide a wire rope which is excellent in impregnability of a lubricating oil, oil retentivity, flexibility and fatigue resistance, has no deformation of wire rope and can be used over a long period of time, by forming a mixed core strands of spun yarns and synthetic fiber yarns.

The wire rope 1 consists of core strands 2 whose inside is impregnated with a lubricating oil, and a plurality of strands 3, ..., 3 which are twisted around the core strands 2. The core strands 2 is composed of internal cores 2a which are made by twisting spun yarns, and an external cores 2b which are made by twisting synthetic fiber yarns around the internal core 2a.
