To provide a mechanical safety device, in which a rotating drum and a fixed drive source are mechanically integrated, installation space for a drive part need not be provided on a main body, shaft realigning is not necessary for installation, and rotation is prevented while a motor is stopped.
In this wire winding device, a safety lock device 40, the motor 31, and a reducer 30 using a planetary gear mechanism are disposed inside a drum 10, in which a motor output shaft and bearings at both ends of the drum are provided along a line, setting one side as the drive side, and the other as the free side. By putting on/off the motor, the drum can be rotated/stopped, and drum lock is mechanically performed by wedge action while the motor is stopped.
