Title:
WIRELESS BRANCH CIRCUIT ENERGY MONITORING SYSTEM
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2017228540
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a circuit breaker that wirelessly communicates state and fault information to a main energy monitoring module without increasing the size of a circuit breaker panel.SOLUTION: A circuit breaker 112 including a radio transceiver 114 includes a transceiver and a power supply harvesting energy inductively from a line current conductor without the need for a connection to a neutral conductor. The circuit breaker can be implemented in the same package as existing circuit breakers, eliminating the need to replace a circuit breaker panel 110 when upgrading to a system that employs a main energy monitoring module 116. The circuit breaker can also include a power storage device for supplying power to the circuit breaker after it has tripped, the power storage device allowing transmission of information after a trip of the circuit breaker. The main energy monitoring module includes a processor 130 and a gateway 120 for evaluating information received from the circuit breaker to transmit the information to other applications, such as webpages and smart phones.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
