To improve a throughput characteristic of data communication by adaptively selecting a transmission rate to transmit a beacon (control signal) even in a wireless LAN communication environment in which there are a lot of wireless LAN base stations on the same channel.
A wireless LAN base station device periodically broadcasts a beacon notifying a radio terminal which is in connection or has a possibility of connection in a communication area of control information at a prescribed transmission rate. The wireless LAN base station device comprises: transmission rate-for-determination summing up means which receives a probe request transmitted by a radio terminal scheduled for connection and a data signal transmitted by a radio terminal in connection, and counts and sums up the number of reception times per transmission rate for determination which can be adopted as a transmission rate of the beacon for each beacon period; and transmission rate determination means for determining the transmission rate of a beacon to be transmitted next on the basis of summed results of the transmission rate-for-determination summing up means.
