Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prevent total reflection of incident light on the joining layer in a Wollaston prism consisting of a birefringent crystal having high refractive index.
CONSTITUTION: An antireflection films 4 are formed by vacuum vapor deposition on the joining surfaces 1b, 2a of prisms 1, 2 composed of LiNbO3 or LiTaO3. A mixture soln. of a metal org. compd. and a diluting liquid is applied on the joining surfaces to adhere the prisms. The soln. is heated to effect the reaction to form a joining layer containing an inorg. compd. by >50 % comprising metal oxides, metal nitrides or metal sulfides or a combined material of these inorg. compds.
