To attain the compatibility of the lower centroid of the head of a wood club having a head body consisting of a metallic material with the maximization of inertia moment by thermally spraying a thermal spraying material having the sp.gr. larger than the sp.gr. of the material of the head body to the entire surface or part of the head body.
The head body 2 is molded of duralumin having a light sp.gr. and a face 3 and crown are formed to the ultimately small thicknesses. For example, the thickness of the face 3 is formed to 4.3mm and the thickness of the crown to 1.1mm in the thinnest part and 1.6mm in the thickest part. Tungsten carbide 6 is thermally sprayed over the entire front surface of the sole 5 of such head body 2 and the entire surface on the circumferential flank of the head body 2 in order to lower the centroid of the head. The thermally spraying quantity thereof is specified to 10g if, for example, the club head is a driver and to 20g if the club head is a fairway wood. The thickness 6 of the film to be thermally sprayed is specified to 100 microns in the case of the driver and to about 250 microns in the case of other clubs (No. 3 to No. 5).
