To completely fix long-size board materials or the like at a high compression rate and efficiently by first, primarily fixing a compressed wood obtained by rolling the wood as it is left in a state of compression after squeezing the compressed wood into a molding space of a desired product cross section shape provided at the outlet side of a press roll, and secondarily fixing the compressed wood after thermally treating it.
A long-size boardlike wood 1 has its tip sharpened by a tip processing device 4, then is boiled by a boiling device 6 and is softened by impregnating it with water and heating it. After that, the softened wood 1 is squeezed into a gap between press rolls 10 to be rolled and compressed. The gap between the press rolls 10 is adjusted so that the gap is slightly narrower than the board thickness of the compressed wood 15 after compression. Thus the wood 1 is efficiently compressed with a low load and thus, an installation is scaled down to a compact size. The compressed wood 15 has its original shape restored after deformation and therefore, is squeezed into the molding space 17 of a guide molding frame 18a on a primary fixing device 18 and is heated using a heating means 21. Further, the compressed wood 15 is heated at a specified temperature and for a specified heating time using a secondary fixing device 24 such as a thermostatic oven. Thus it is possible to efficiently produce compression-fixed woods 25 of outstanding performance and quality whose restoration to their original shape can be prevented from occurring even after being left alone or boiled.
