PURPOSE: A wood grain-accentuating agent which has a wood grain-accentuating effect and a water-repelling effect and which, even after the lapse of time, does not foul the part of contact with other members, prepared by dissolving, in an organic solvent, a drying or semi-drying oil and a solid wax, and emulsifying the mixture in water with the aid of a surfactant.

CONSTITUTION: A water-dispersion type wood grain-accentuating agent prepared by adding an organic solvent solution of about 1W5pts.wt. of a solid wax such as paraffin wax, Japan wax or synthetic wax to 100pts.wt. of a fat and oil having a high iodine value and containing highly unsaturated fatty acids, such as vegetable or animal drying or semi-drying oils and synthetic drying oils, such as linseed oil, safflower oil, tung oil, soybean oil, dehydrated castor oil and highly conjugated linolic oil and emulsifying the resulting mixture in water with the aid of 5W20pts. wt. of a nonionic surfactant.

EFFECT: Because of water dispersion type, the accentuating agent is freed from problems of fire or poisoning from organic solvents, easy to treat, does not flow after the lapse of time or even when exposed to high temperatures, doen not foul the part of contact with other members, permanently and clearly accentuates wood grain and provides a water-repellent grainy surface.
