Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method in which a phenolic compound or an aromatic amine compound is efficiently polymerized by an enzyme catalyst in an alkali range and the polymerization reaction is applied to wood treatment. SOLUTION: This method for wood treatment is characterized in that an enzyme having a polyphenol oxidation action and a phenolic compound or an aromatic amine compound are impregnated into wood in an alkali pH range and the phenolic compound or the aromatic amine compound is polymerized in wood.
