Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve fixing property, thermal cohesion resistance, nm-offset property, and color developing property by using a polyester resin having a specified compsn. as a binder resin.
CONSTITUTION: Such a polyester resin is used as a binder resin that has a polybasic acid component and a polyhydric alcohol component, 55-75°C glass transition point Tg, 5000-20000 weight-average mol.wt. Mw, 104-106 poise melt viscosity at 100°C, and 90-120°C softening point SP by ring and ball test. The polybasic acid component essentially consists of terephthalic acid, while the polyhydric alcohol component essentially consists of 1,4-cyclohexane dimethanol (A) and glycohol (B) expressed by formula with the molar ratio of (A):(B)=35:65 to 65:35. In formula, R is an alkylene group having 2 or 3 carbon number, and (m) and (n) are integers satisfying 2≤m+n≤4. Therefore, the obtd. toner has a medium property between crystal and noncrystal and has good low temp fixing property and offset resistance property as a toner, and further, complete colorless transparency which is inevitable as a color toner.
