PURPOSE: To obtain a wooden fuel which is inexpensive and useful and can be used as a coal substitute, by cutting logs in round slices, passing the slices between rolls to crush them, stirring them in a semi-closed container to separate them into pieces, thus obtaining finely powdered angular firewood.
CONSTITUTION: Logs of 2W6m in length, such as wood for firewood and characoal or lumber from thinning, are piled up in such a manner that the bottom end and the top are atternately placed. The resulting stack (height of 0.8m and width of 4m) is placed on a truck 1, slightly tied, and drawn out in the desired lengths. While moving the truck, the logs are cut in round slices by using a band saw. For example, the cutting is conducted in such a manner that the logs are inclined, continuously fed in lengths of 1W2m by gravity or vibration and successively crosscut with a circular saw inclined at right angles to the axis of the log. The slices are continuously placed on a conveyor 3 and introduced into a cracking roller 5 by means of a fed roller 4. The cracked slices leaving the roller are crushed in a crusher 6 to form angular firewood. As the crusher 6, a continuous crushing device wherein the cracked slices are stirred in a semi-closed container is used.
