PURPOSE: To obtain a woody material provided with colored recessed parts of a vascular bundle form together with a grain pattern to have a feel of nearly a natural wood at a low cost.

CONSTITUTION: A transferred grain pattern layer 3 is formed on a surface of a substrate 2 by thermal transferring using a grain pattern transfer sheet 14. A coloring transfer sheet 18 is interposed between a metallic embossing roller 16 having projected parts of a vascular bundle form and the transferred grain pattern layer 3 of the substrate 2, and the metallic embossing roller 16 is pressed against the substrate 2. In this manner, recessed parts of a vascular bundle form are formed in the transferred grain pattern layer 3 and, simultaneously, a transferred color layer is formed in the recessed parts by transferring.
