Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a useful commodity making the best use of merits such as aromatic odor, sterilizing and mildewproofing actions, beautiful view of white cedar sheet.
SOLUTION: A rope is obtained by slicing a woody part of white cedar to give a shaving-like sheet and corrugating the sheet in the direction perpendicular to the orientation direction of the fiber. A mat is obtained by entwining the rope alone or together with another fiber material into a woven fabric state, a straw mat state or a knitted fabric state. A formed material is obtained by forming a skeleton of a formed material such as basket, by using a wirelike material having rigidity and entwining the skeleton with the rope obtained by slicing the woody part of white cedar to give the shaving-like sheet, corrugating the sheet in the direction perpendicular to the orientation direction of the fiber or twisting the sheet into a woven fabric state.
