This work accumulation unit is provided with a bucket 30 capable of accepting a work W and discharging the work W through a work discharge port 35, a gate opening/closing means 40 having a gate member 41 capable of opening and closing the work discharge port 35, a bucket moving means 20 making the bucket 30 move back and forth, a position detecting means 50 capable of detecting the foremost forward position of the bucket 30, and a controlling means driving and controlling the gate opening/closing means 40 and the bucket moving means 20 based on the detecting signal from the position detecting means 50. The position detecting means 50 is provided with a detecting member 53 operating by abutting against the accumulated work W by the advancement of the bucket 30, and a sensor 51 detecting the operation of the detecting member 53.
