PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To permit the positioning of a work so that a working surface of the work can be arranged nearly horizontal and at the same height in both of the erecting condition and the inverted condition by providing a tilting mechanism for tilting a loading base so that the working surface of the work becomes horizontal and an elevating means for elevating the loading base.
SOLUTION: After pressing a valve guide into a top surface of a cylinder head 100 in the electing condition, the cylinder head 100 is reversed by a reversing device and placed on a loading base 18. Since the top surface of the cylinder head 100 in the inverted condition after the turn over is not horizontal, the whole of the cylinder head 100 is tilted by a tilting mechanism 31 to made the working surface of the top surface horizontal. In order to set the working surface of the cylinder head 100 after the tilting at the same height with the working surface of the cylinder head 100 in the erecting condition, the cylinder head 100 is raised or lowered by the elevating means, and thereafter, the cylinder head 100 is positioned on the loading base 18 by a locate pin.
