Abstract:

To provide a work clamping method for smoothing the rotation of a work and improving the machining precision of the work by cancelling static toque on the side of a servo motor generated in clamping the work at its ends with chucks of clamping mechanisms.

A crank shaft 27 is clamped at its left-end and right-end journal portions 28a, 28b by the first and second clamping mechanisms 23, 24. The second servo motor 34 is turned in a servo-OFF state and a difference in rotating angle between the first servo motor 33 and the second servo motor 34 is detected. Then, the rotating position of the second servo motor 34 is made correspond to the rotating angle of the first servo motor 33. The second servo motor 34 is turned in a servo-ON state for grinding operation. The static torque due to torsional force generated in the work is cancelled and angle data for rotation control on one side corresponds to that on the other side, therefore smoothing the rotation of the crank shaft 27 and improving the machining precision.
