To surely image an imaging object part of a work such as a pinion cutter with a handle without arranging a reflecting plate.
This work imaging method images the imaging object part 11A of the work 11 having the imaging object part 11A on the tip side, and arranging a handle part 11C having a diameter larger than a neck part 11B via the neck part 11B having a diameter smaller than the imaging object part 11A on the rear end side of this imaging object part 11A, and images the imaging object part 11A by an imaging means 13 by illuminating the part from the rear end side by the reflected light by applying illumination F by an illuminating means 14 to a surface 11D turning to the tip side between the neck part 11B and the handle part 11C of the work 11.
