PURPOSE: To facilitate work positioning without preparing a special pallet for different shapes of works.
CONSTITUTION: Sliding grooves 12a-12c whose cross section is of inverted T shape are formed in a positioning unit 1 mounted onto a pallet base 10, protruding members 11a-11c are fixed near respective one end of the sliding grooves 12a-12c, and sliding members 13a-13c are mounted so as to slide freely inside the sliding grooves 12a-12c. The sliding members 13a-13c are made to advance and retreat by three motors built in the positioning unit 1 and ball screws connected to the motors, and a work W is put between three sets of protruding surfaces 21, 41 which face each other for horizontal positioning. The work W is pressed by a clamping mechanism 3 mounted onto the sliding members 13a, 13b so as to prevent the work W from floating from reference surfaces 22, 42.
