A work transporting device is equipped with a horizontal moving body 4 capable of moving in the horizontal direction along a horizontal girder 3, an elevating/sinking member 5 mounted on the horizontal moving body 4, hand chuck 6 furnished on the member 5, and a pair of work pinching arms 6a with which hand chucks 6 can approach and separate to/from each other, wherein the member 5 is furnished with an inverting device 12 for the hand chucks 6, and the middle part of the work is pinched by the arms 6a of the hand chucks 6.
