PURPOSE: To shape a spherical head part having the superior surface roughness only by rolling, by shaping a nearly cylindrical preparatory head part so as to have the nearly equal volume to that of a spherical head part and applying the rolling work for correcting both the edge parts in the axis line direction.

CONSTITUTION: A rod member 1 is formed by cutting-shaping a cylindrical wire member having the nearly equal diameter to the min. diameter of the neck part 13 of a ball stud 6 so that the nearly equal volume to that of the finished ball stud 6 can be obtained. Then, the forging work such as the header working is applied, and a preparatory shaped member 2 and an intermediate shaped member 3 are shaped successively. Then, the bulged diameter part 9 of the intermediate shaped member 3 is formed into a nearly cylindrical form so as to have the diameter (d) nearly equal to the diameter D of the equator part of the spherical head part 15 of the ball stud 6 and the nearly equal volume. Then a shaft part 10 is formed, and a tapered part shaped member 5 is shaped, and a cylindrical preparatory spherical head part 11 is corrected by the rolling work, and the ball stud 6 having the spherical head part 15 in true spherical surface 16 is shaped.
