Abstract:

PURPOSE: To measure an amount of flexure in a milling cutter in rotation so easily and accurately over the whole by installing a detector which detects a normal position of a finished surface of a cutting edge at the opposite side of the cutting by means of at a time when the cutting edge of the milling cutter passes through a machining surface.

CONSTITUTION: At the time of side cutting or step cutting with a milling cutter 3, a normal position of a finished surface at a tip of a cutting edge at the opposite sick of the cutting edge is detected by a noncontact type detector 2 when this cutting edge of the milling cutter 3 passes through a working surface, whereby a position of the cutting edge is detected, and any form error on the working surface is in this way. A line of sight 8 in this detector 2 is required to be perpendicular to the working surface, and in order to regulate a direction of the sight line 8 of this detector 2, there are two cases that it is performed by means of manual operation and displaced automatically as followed in the wake of the working surface.
