PURPOSE: To enable easy removal of a metallic plate from a metallic member by an arc even if there is an obstruction around the welded part by disposing a hollow carbon electrode around the welded part of the metallic plate welded partly to the metallic member in such a way that the aperture surface at the tip thereof inclines to the axis and parallels to the welded part.
CONSTITUTION: A hollow carbon electrode 5 held by a torch 4 is brought into contact with the circumference of a welded part 2 in order to disconnect a metallic plate 1 attached by spot welding 2 to a metallic member 3 from the member 3 by arc heat. Electricity is conducted to the electrode 5 and the plate 1 to generate the arc by a power source 7 thereby melting the working part. The molten metal is sucked away into a dust collecting box 10 by which the plate 1 is disconnected from the member 3. If there is an obstruction around the welded part, the aperture surface 5a at the tip of the electrode 5 is so shaped as to incline with respect to the axis of said rod so that the entire circumference of the surface 5a maintains roughly the specified spacing from the part 2. The plate 1 is thus disconnected from the member 3 without damaging said member.
