PURPOSE: To attain a working method excellent in yield, a method in which a metallic plate is plastically worked on a metallic container that has on its bottom an opening slightly smaller than the mouth in diameter and that has a nearly uniform thickness overall.
CONSTITUTION: In performing the plastic working of a metallic plate on a container that has on its bottom an opening slightly smaller than the mouth in diameter, the metallic plate is drawn into a container shape having a bottom slightly deeper than the desired depth, with the primary working performed by punching out on the bottom a primary opening slightly larger in diameter than the prescribed opening. The article thus formed through the primary working is pressurized by a forming die 13 by which the entire face of the primary opening 3a is kept in a restrained state except the inner diameter side, so that the secondary working is performed, reducing the primary opening 3a, and forming the desired opening 3 with a diameter slightly smaller than the mouth.
