PURPOSE: To provide a work roll with both high wear resistance and high brightness by specifying the content of Cr, Mo, W, V and Co in a steel series roll.
CONSTITUTION: The working roll for rolling is formed of a high-speed steel having a compsn. constituted of, by weight, 0.5 to 1.5% C, ≤3.0% Si, ≤1.5% Mn, 2 to 6% Cr, ≤10% Mo, ≤20% W, 1 to 5% V and 5 to 13% Co, if required, furthermore constituted of ≤5% Ni and the balance Fe with inevitable impuri ties. Moreover, the hardness of the barrel of the roll is regulated to ≥90HS, and the amt. of eutectic carbides in the structure is suppressed to ≤20%. By the crystallization of the carbides of Cr, Mo, V, W or the like, its wear resis tance is improved. Furthermore, because the matrix is highly hardened and the difference in the hardness between the carbides and the matrix is reduced, its brightness is improved. At the time of using this roll for rolling, a sheet having high quality and high brightness can be obtd.
