In this system and method to hold and carry engraveable workpieces of different shapes, the system includes a first workpiece carrier 20 equipped with an internal relief section which is constituted in a manner to house a first workpiece of a first shape, and also, includes a second workpiece carrier equipped with an internal relief section which is constituted in a manner to house a second workpiece of a second shape. The external shape of the second workpiece carrier is approx. the same as the external shape of a the first workpiece carrier, and thus, a carrier of a uniform external size regardless of the shape of a workpiece can be provided. The carrier may hold a workpiece in the internal relief section with snap locks or in a manner to prevent a contact with an adjacent workpiece being housed, and a damage due to the contact from occurring.
