To provide a workpiece supporting device in which a workpiece is moved in a direction desired by a worker while fixing the workpiece, and the workpiece is held in the position after moving.
The workpiece supporting device is composed of: a metallic spherical body 2 having sufficient weight; a vice 3 mounted to a notched groove 5, which is formed by notching a part of an outer peripheral position of the spherical body 2, so as to protrude in a tangential direction of the spherical body 2; and a pedestal 4 in which a recessed part is formed to the upper face. The spherical body 2 is statically placed on the pedestal 4 by the sinking of a part close to the lower part of the spherical body 2 into the recessed part. By such a constitution, the workpiece W clamped by the vice 3 is easily moved to a position that facilitates work of the worker by only resetting the spherical body 2 after lifting and turning it by gripping the protruding part of the vice 3. The workpiece W is held in the position. Consequently, the worker does not need to change the working position by moving himself/herself or to change the position and direction for clamping the workpiece.
