To provide a woven fabric easy to suppress its thickness and increase its softness even in case of using strip-like members as wefts, and to provide a weaving method suitable for producing such a woven fabric.

The woven fabric comprises warps 1 and 2, a plurality of leno elastic stitches 3 formed of these warps 1 and 2, and strip-like members 4 as wefts woven in the warps 1 and 2. In this woven fabric, the leno elastic stitches 3 are formed by twisting the warps 1 and 2 and crossing them each other, and the strip-like members 4 are woven among the mutual strip-like members 3, wherein the strip-like members 4 consist of e.g. leather. The weaving method comprises the step(a) of attaching selvedge members on both ends of a sheet-like material respectively, the step(b) of obtaining the strip-like members 4 each having selvedge members on both ends by cutting the sheet-like material and the selvedge members, and the step(c) of weaving the objective woven fabric using the strip-like members 4 as wefts.
