This woven or knitted fabric consisting of a meta-based aramid fiber and a heat resistant fiber having a high strength and high flexibility is provided with that the weight ratio of the meta-based aramid fiber occupying the total yarn weight constituting the woven or knitted fabric is the same as or less than that of the heat resistant fiber having the high strength and high flexibility and the ratio of the surface area of the meta-based aramid fiber occupying the total surface area of one side surface of the woven or knitted fabric is larger than that of the heat resistant fiber having the high strength and high flexibility.
