To provide a writing board adapted to use in the case of writing at a place having no illumination at night.
A luminescent plate 5 containing a diffusion plate 7 is extended on a base 1. A cold-cathode tube 10 is provided in an outside space at one edge of the plate 5, and covered with a frame 13 while covering the outside with a reflecting plate 11. A mount plate 16 is extended in plane in the frame 13. A dry cell 19 and electronic components 21, 23 for constituting a lighting circuit are contained at an upper edge side of the board 1, and coated with a cover 22. A pair of binders 35 are integrally formed with the upper edge of the frame 13. A sheet is placed on the plate 16, its upper edge is held by the binder 35, and then the tube 10 is lit. A light emitted from the tube 10 is emitted from an overall surface of the plate 5 while being diffused, and emitted to the sheet from its rear surface through the plate 16.
