PURPOSE: To obtain high resolution by limiting the lateral size of each optical shutter part on the basis of an electrode interval, and forming a mask on the image-formation surface of each dot whose lateral size only is limited and thus limiting the longitudinal size of the optical shutter part.
CONSTITUTION: A light source 10, polarizer 11, PLZT flat plate 12, common electrode 13 provided on the flat plate 12, and electrode group 14 for voltage application are provided. The polarizer 11 and an analyzer 15 are constituted so as to have axes of polarization at ±45° to the direction of an electric field vector generated when a voltage is applied between the common electrode 13 and electrode group 14 for voltage application. An SELFOC lens array 16 and a mask plate 17 are provided and the optical shutter part on the PLZT flat plate 12 is arranged where an image is formed through the SELFOC lens array 16. A photosensitive body 18 is placed almost in contact with the mask plate 17.
