Title:
X86-SYSTEM COMPUTER USING MAIN MEMORY NOT LESS THAN 1 M IN REAL MODE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2006285798
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To solve the following problem: though a BIOS normally operates in a real mode before an OS starts or though it is necessary to load a driver onto a main memory to execute it when setting another drive as a start-up drive because a drive allowing the BIOS to recognize it as the OS start-up drive is an FDD, an HDD of IDE connection, or the like, there are cases where the driver cannot be directly loaded onto a memory area not more than 1 Mbyte because the driver needs a memory area not less than 1 Mbyte, for example.

In this x86-system computer, an operation mode of a CPU is changed over to the real mode or a protect mode, and execution is performed while exchanging information loaded on the memory area usable in the protect mode or the real mode, and information loaded on the memory area usable in the protect mode.
