To provide a yarn winding device which is capable of improving the degree of freedom in layout and guiding yarn to a yarn splicing device in a short time and reduces the amount of the yarn to be wasted when the yarn is spliced.

An automatic winder includes a bobbin supporting unit 7, a winding unit 8, the yarn splicing device 14, a yarn guiding unit, a yarn trap 15, and a yarn trap driving unit 47. In a state wherein the yarn is divided, the yarn guiding unit guides the yarn on a package 30 side to the yarn splicing device 14. The yarn trap 15 is located so as to face a yarn-traveling path provided between the winding unit 8 and the yarn splicing device 14 and captures the yarn on a yarn-feeding bobbin 21 side in the state wherein the yarn is divided. The yarn trap driving unit 47 moves the yarn trap in the direction that the captured yarn is introduced into the yarn splicing device 14 while keeping the state wherein the captured yarn straddles the yarn splicing device 14.
