To provide a yarn winding machine having excellent production efficiency, and capable of effectively preventing any degradation of the quality of a package.
An automatic winder includes a cradle, a contact roller 29, a traverse arm 74, and a traverse driving motor. The cradle rotatably supports a winding bobbin for winding yarn 20 to form the package 30. The contact roller 29 rotates while making contact with the winding bobbin or a package 30. In the traverse arm 74, an arm part 72 having a bent part 72a bent in the approaching direction to the contact roller 29 is arranged on a base end side, and a yarn guide section 73 for guiding yarn 20 is arranged on its fore end side. The traverse driving motor rotationally drives the traverse arm 74, and reciprocally drives the yarn guide section 73 with respect to the width of the package 30.
