PURPOSE: To obtain a reinforced material for FRP having improved anchor to matrix by bringing fibers of an organic material, an inorganic material, a metal material or an element of simple substance or their woven fabric into contact with a gas flow containing ultrafine particles of an inorganic material, a metal material or an element of simple substance and uniformly attaching the ultrafine particles to the surface of the fibers in a single layer.
CONSTITUTION: Fibers of an organic material, an inorganic material, a metal material or an element of simple substance such as carbon fibers or their woven fabric are introduced to a gas flow containing ultrafine particles of an inorganic material, a metal material or an element of simple substance formed by a vapor method having 0.05-1μm average particle diameter, such as glass particles formed by CVD method or PVD method, e.g. RF plasma method to uniformly attach the glass particles to 80-90 % the surface in a single layer. The treated carbon fibers or their woven fabric used as a reinforcing material and impregnated with a thermosetting resin and/or a thermoplastic resin as a matrix to form a fiber-reinforced composite material.
