PURPOSE: To obtain an enzyme useful as an activating means for inactive proteins produced according to biotechnology, analytical reagent, etc., by isolating a yeast peptidyl-prolyl-cis-trans isomerase from a yeast of the genus Saccharomyces, etc.
CONSTITUTION: A yeast peptidyl-prolyl-cis-trans isomerase is isolated from a yeast of the genus Saccharomyces. For example, Saccharomyces cerevisiae AH22 strain (ATCC39626) is cited as the yeast of the genus Saccharomyces used. The aforementioned isomerase exhibits the following properties (1) to (4). That is, (1) reacting with bond Xaa-Pro (Xaa is amino acid; Pro is L-proline) in peptide chain and isomerizing the bond; (2) exhibiting single molecular weight of about 1.7 daltons in sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide concentration gradient gel electrophoresis; (3) exhibiting isoelectric point of about 6.2 in isoelectric focusing and (4) inhibited by cyclosporin A.
