PURPOSE: To provide a Ziegler catalyst compsn. which does not adversely affect an ethylene (co)polymer and has an excellent productivity by comprising a transition metal catalyst component, a specified organoaluminum component, and an organohalogen catalyst component in a specified ratio.
CONSTITUTION: This Ziegler catalyst compsn. for (co)polymn. of ethylene comprises: (A) a transition metal catalyst component, such as Ti; (B) an organoaluminum component represented by formula (wherein R represents a 1 to 18C hydrocarbon; X represents OR, Cl, Br, or H; and m is 1 to 3), such as triethylaluminum; and (C) an organohalogen catalyst component, wherein the component C contains or consists of 1,1,1-trichloroethane, the atomic ratio of the transition metal in the component A to aluminum in the component B is (1:0.5) to (1:100), and the molar ratio of the component B to the component C is (1:0.003) to (1:0.3).
