Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zirconium alloy nuclear fuel clad tube which has excellent corrosion resistance and mechanical properties, and to provide a production method therefor.
SOLUTION: A zirconium alloy having a composition of Zr-aNb-bSn-cFe-dCr- eCu (a=0.05 to 0.4 mass%, b=0.3 to 0.7 mass%, c=0.1 to 0.4 mass%, d=0 to 0.2 mass%, and e=0.01 to 0.2 mass%) in which the amount of Nb+Sn to be added is 0.35 to 1.0 mass%, or a mixture having the above composition is molten, and is subjected to β-forging, β-quench, hot-working, cold-working, intermediate annealing and final annealing to produce the zirconium alloy nuclear fuel cladding tube. This zirconium alloy nuclear fuel clad tube is usefully applicable to the core components in a light water and a heavy water atomic reactor type nuclear power plant.
