Title:
ZIRCONIUM ALLOY FOR NUCLEAR REACTOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0336228
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To manufacture a zirconium alloy having excellent corrosion resistance in a high temp-high pressure nuclear reactor by adding plural kinds of alloy elements having specified value of standard electrode potential, by the amt. exceeding the solid soln. limit, to pure zirconium.

CONSTITUTION: Plural kinds of alloy elements having a standard electrode potential in the range of -0.5 to +1.5 volt are added, by the amt. exceeding the solid soln. limit, to pure zirconium. Furthermore, as the alloy elements to be added, 1.2 to 1.7% Sn, 0.07 to 0.20% Fe, 0.05 to 0.15% Cr and 0.05 to 0.15% Co are suitably regulated. Thus, by using the above zirconium alloy, the anode-dissolving amt. of the alloy elements to be added by a product from the radiolysis of water is reduced and the change of the formed oxidized film into a porous one is prevented, by which the nodular corrosion generated in a nuclear reactor can be prevented.
