To restrain focusing width burdened by a focus lens group to be small with simple structure by coarsely adjusting a focusing surface position at the time of assembling a camera and driving the focus lens group at the time of performing focusing operation after assembly so that the focusing surface position agrees with a focal plane position.
A zoom lens barrel 10 performs zooming by changing the interval of 1st to 3rd lens groups L1 to L3, and performs focusing by moving a 2nd lens group (focus lens group L2) along an optical axis. This camera is equipped with a focusing adjusting control means for driving the lens group L2 by adding the moving amount of the lens group L2 at each focal distance stored in a storage means to the moving amount of the lens group L2 at the time of performing the focusing operation. Then, the focusing surface position is coarsely adjusted at the time of assembling the camera, and the focusing surface position agrees with the focal plane position by driving the focus lens group to a moving position decided by the focusing control means at the time of performing the focusing operation after the assembly.
