To provide a zoom lens whose zoom ratio is ≥2.5 and whose angle of view is ≥60°, and which has high resolution and a short entire optical length at the non-use time.
The zoom lens is equipped with a 1st lens group G1 (negative power), a 2nd lens group G2 (positive power), a 3rd lens group G3 (positive power) and a diaphragm A fixed on the object side of the 2nd lens group G2 in order from an object side. The 1st lens group G1 is equipped with a 1st lens L1 being a negative meniscus lens turning its surface having strong curvature to an image side, a 2nd lens being a negative meniscus lens turning its surface having strong curvature to the image side and a 3rd lens L3 being a positive lens turning its surface having strong curvature to the object side in order from the object side, and the 2nd lens group G2 is equipped with a 4th lens L4 being a positive lens turning its surface having strong curvature to the object side, a 5th lens L5 being a positive lens, a 6th lens L6 being a negative lens and a 7th lens L7 being a positive lens, then the 3rd lens group G3 is equipped with an 8th lens L8 being a positive lens.
