PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zoom lens that is compact and has a high zoom ratio and high optical performance.SOLUTION: In a zoom lens comprising a first lens group having a positive refractive power, a second lens group having a negative refractive power, and a third lens group having a positive refractive power, in order from an object side to an image side, the following are appropriately set: the movement loci of the lens groups; the amount of movement M3 of the third lens group in zooming from a wide angle end to a telephoto end; the focal distance f3 of the third lens group.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
